Chelsea Restaurants: Trestle on TenthSince we were in Chelsea, we thought we’d try Trestle on Tenth. I knew things were off to a rocky start when the first wine I asked for tasted of vinegar, and so did the second. At least the waiter was accommodating. He tried to find me a bottle I liked but after he poured from the second one, a pinot noir, I gave up. First up of the two appetizers I ordered was a savory carrot soup. This was far the best dish that arrived at our table. Unlike many carrot soups, this one actually allowed you to taste the vegetables. There as a small slab of foie gras floating on top. It was tasty but I’m not sure what the point was. My hubby ordered the roasted pork loin with butter beans and chanterelles, that sad to say, was totally without any flavor profile. My tomato tart with escargots and cress was as fine as far as it went. But, frankly, it wasn’t all that different from the pizzas I’ve hauled out of my freezer on nights when I’m desperate for something to just fill my stomach. Trestle on Tenth
