For months, we’ve walked by Super Tacos, an unassuming taco truck parked on 96th St. just west of Broadway. The smell of spices and grilling meat fills the air when we come up from the subway just around the block. Nightly, there’s a cluster of customers ordering tacos and other Mexican delights. So, we decided to try the place.

Why did we wait so long?? Though the taco was just so-so, the mole poblano with chicken was fabulous–pungent and spicy and earthy and chocolaty, all in one grateful bite. In fact, my hubby was the one who ordered the mole. But I ditched my taco and grabbed his mole-bearing plastic container before he could finish off the divine dish.

“Hey,” he said. “That’s mine.” I didn’t answer as I stabbed a big forkful of the intensely flavorful chicken and ferried it into my mouth.

At this truck, go for anything mole. Green and red mole dishes are featured twice a week. I bet some of the other specials are special too.

Sunday: Pozole (Mexican Corn Cup with Pork)
