A bit of good news to ring in the new year! Maya Schaper Cheese & Antiques, an Upper West Side institution featuring an unlikely pairing of a cheese counter with a selection of antique china and other whimsical items, will remain in business. And soon it will sport a brand new cafe, according to the Times.

The space was supposed to be taken by a Vietnamese coffee and wine bar, but instead you’ll be able to sip a cup of tea while gazing longingly at the shop’s offering of collectibles.
