Upper West Side: PQ Opens at Bdwy/91st

A Pain Quotidien at 91st and Broadway? This sure sign of gentrification, encroaching i-bankers, and other indications of over-development has landed in the ‘hood.

The chain, with outposts around the city, is now serving its mostly organic fair from a new storefront on Broadway. If you wander by, you might be offered free samples of not-very-good chocolate chip cookies

Inside, there are the usual salads, sandwiches, etc. I am devoted to the egg salad. As for the rest of the food–and the indifferent service–it’s not thrilling. I find the muffins positively uneatable. Still, PQ is a nice, quiet place to meet a friend for a cup of tea and a little conversation.
