East Village: Sura Serves Up Solid Korean DishesWe were looking for a lunch place close to work, and my daughter suggested Sura, a Korean eatery near Astor Square. It’s cheap, fast and good, just what you want for a midday eatery. My friend chose better than I did from the enormous menu. A beef bulgogi box was pretty pedestrian but the pumpkin porridge was divine, with just a subtle sweet hint of the luscious fruit. Then my friend tucked into a pear salad that appeared to be dressed with a light yogurt-like dressing. There were strawberries and lettuce. It was beautiful to behold and tasted like summer. Prices are reasonable–$4.00 for the porridge and in the teens for dishes like spicy tofu. Sura

Next time you are in the Village and in the mood for Korean go to Temple on St. Marks and 1st Avenue. It is a little pricey, but totally worth it.
