West Village: Beard on Books Welcoms Marcella Hazan, Author of Iconic Italian Cookboks
Years ago, Italian food in the U.S. equated to red sauce Italian-American dishes like spaghetti and meatballs. Hazon’s iconic cookbooks, beginning with the 1973 classic, The Classic Italian Cookbook, introduced Americans to traditional Italian cooking much in the way that Julia Child introduced French cuisine into American kitchens. If you’d like to hear Hazan talk about her latest book, an autobiography, she’s speaking at the James Beard House on Oct. 8. Beard on Books Learn the remarkable life story of the woman who started out teaching science in a small town in Italy, but ended up teaching America how to cook Italian.
