Whole Foods @ 98th and Columbus is Still on Target to Open Late Summer/Early Fall

Update:  The new Whole Foods will open Aug. 27.

There’s considerable angst concerning the planned opening of Whole Foods at 97th and Columbus. Many are fearful that the store won’t actually throw open its doors to eager neighborhood food shoppers.

It appears, at least for now, everyone can relax a bit.

Here’s what the company’s spokesperson said in an e-mail today:

We are still opening and the projected opening date is still late summer/early fall.

2nd March 2009. The Whole Foods store logo has been taped over on the boards around the Columbus Avenue building site.

If Whole Foods is still opening at 98th and Columbus, why has its name been covered over with duct tape on the sign at 97th and Columbus (northeast corner) which lists new stores coming to Columbus Village?
