Oy! There was much bigger hole than any that was ever punched in a bagel when the much-loved H & H Bagels at Broadway and 80th Street was briefly shuttered Friday for non-payment of taxes, according to a story in The New York Times.
A few days ago, I listed some Upper West Side spots where you can eat outdoors in the warm weather months. Elsewhere around New York, sidewalk cafes and garden terraces also abound. Here are a few choices:
On the North Fork of Long Island, a new type of tasting experience is in the works—and it isn’t happening at the area’s vineyards.
Another old time Upper West Side restaurant has closed. Hanafin’s, which served diner-style food to a clientèle that leaned heavily toward elderly ladies in the neighborhood, has shut its doors.
According to a report in Crain’s New York Business, Payard Patisserie & Bistro, the famed New York City Upper East Side pastry shop, could close as soon as August. The landlord is threatening to double the rent, Crain’s reports.
