Upper West Side Restaurant Ducale Impresses

A report on Upper West Side eatery Ducale  from our fearless correspondent,  Heather Frank:

We walked into Ducale on 79th and Columbus the other day and were treated to a totally delicious lunch. They just got their liquor license a month ago, and a sidewalk cafe should be ready soon.

I tucked into a salad of warm roast pear and Gorgonzola on a bed of arugula. The dressing had flecks of nicely toasted macadamia nuts. Since I loathe red pepper, I had them take that off the salad, but it’s probably  just as yummy with. Really sophisticated and complex flavors. For my main, I had yellow and green fettuccine with prosciutto and peas, which managed to be rich and spare at the same time.

My hubby’s linguine with clams was great too and he lapped up his panna cotta — I just reached on over and spooned off the caramel sauce, which was delicious.

The place was empty at 1:30 p.m., but at a nearby table in the lovely room sat an Italian tourist mother and two little girls who seemed to have just come from the Museum of Natural History across the street. To top things off, there was a cute, nice waiter who was lovely with us and with them

The wine list was short, but well priced.

We want to go back!
