Even though New York magazine says burgers are out and sandwiches are in (isn’t a burger a sandwich???), we had a yen for a really good hamburger tonight. Opting for local, as in the Upper West Side, we settled with some trepidation on 5 Napkin Burger on Broadway.
Though vegetarians might not agree, a good burger joint is an essential neighborhood asset. Now, 5 Napkin Burger has opened an Upper West Side branch, occupying the space on Broadway that once housed Ollie’s. Of course, the original 5 Napkin Burger was conceived at Nice Matin. So popular was the 5 Napkin burger at Upper West Side bistro, Nice Matin, that chef Andy D’Amico decided to dedicate an entire restaurant to this primo slab of chopped beef. Last June, he opened 5 Napkin Burger in Hell’s Kitchen.
