Grub Street reports that Chef Tom Valenti’s West Branch has closed.  When it first opened, I craved their vitello tonnato, that luscious chilled veal with tuna sauce classic. Then the place seemed to go steadily down hill.  Wonder what will wind up in that space?

Guss’ Pickles Leaves the Lower East Side for Brooklyn

Curbed reports via the The Low-Down that Guss’ Pickles is decamping from the Lower East Side for Brooklyn in the next few months, leaving behind what remains of the area’s old time nosheris– Katz’s, Yonah Schimmel, Russ & Daughters and Kossar’s Bialys.

Upper West Side Restaurant Closes

Another old time Upper West Side restaurant has closed.  Hanafin’s, which served diner-style food to a clientèle that leaned heavily toward elderly ladies in the neighborhood, has shut its doors.
According to Eater, the owner of the eatery on Broadway between 82nd and 83rd  decided not to renew his lease.
