Vermont: The Inn at Saxtons RiverIf you’re looking for a typical Vermont Inn for dinner, try The Inn at Saxtons River. When you walk in to the place, you’re greeted by the friendly staff. Our waitress, an ardent Yankee fan, kept us apprised of the score in the game between the Yankees and the Indians while she was serving us dinner. The place is decked our in flocked green wallpaper and the tables are set apart nicely. As for the food, the menu is built on classic, low-risk dishes, like clam chowder, Cobb salad, hamburgers, chicken Marsala, and beef tenderloin. My hubby tucked into steak and frittes and the “culotte” cut turned out to be tender and delicious. My dish—cappelini with tomato sauce, shrimp and broccoli– was special ordered to avoid dairy and predictably it was less than thrilling. Still, I give the place points for trying to concoct something tasty for me on the fly. Inn at Saxton’s River |
