NY Restaurant Openings: What’s New?

Tailor, 525 Broome Street, NYC, Chef: Sam Mason, Opening August 2007

Sam Mason, former pastry chef at WD-50, will open Tailor, a contemporary dining and cocktail parlor, this August. He’ll feature a menu comprising “Salty” and “Sweet” small plates and unconventional takes on classic cocktails.

Rickshaw Dumpling Bar, 50 East 8th Street, NYC, Owner: Kenny LaoChef/Owner: Anita Lo, Opening August 2007

Also this August, entrepreneur Kenny Lao and chef/partner Anita Lo (Anissa) will open a second location of Rickshaw Dumpling Bar on East 8th Street. Lao and Lo developed a menu of six classic gourmet dumplings that rely on fresh seasonal ingredients.

Crave Ceviche Bar, 946 Second Avenue, NYC Chef: Todd Mitgang, Opening August 2007

With a menu that is based entirely on ceviche, lunch options include a Seared Tuna BLT Sandwich and dinner, items like Wild Alaskan Salmon Ceviche with oyster mushrooms and smoky chorizo.

BLT Market, The Ritz-Carlton New York, Central Park 1430 Avenue of the Americas, NYC, Chef: Laurent Tourondel, Opening September 2007

This September, Laurent Tourondel opens BLT Market in The Ritz-Carlton New York, Central Park. BLT Market focuses on fresh, seasonal ingredients available in farmers markets, paying particular attention to unusual, wild and locally grown items.
