Upper West Side: Will the Economy Dash Hopes for a Spring 2009 Opening for Whole Foods at Columbus and 98th?


Though Fred Shank, Whole Foods spokesman, says: “We’re expecting to open the new store on the Upper West Side in Spring 2009,”  could the current financial meltdown delay the store’s opening?
With Whole Foods reporting a tough year and overall sales of organics starting to decline as financially-stressed consumers steer away from these generally pricier items, who knows when the store will actually open?
